Sapling plantation programme expedited in Surkhet

Surkhet, July 21:

With the start of rainy season, different government offices and other organisations in Surkhet district have expedited sapling plantation programme at different forest areas.

Concerned Forest Users' Groups started planting saplings at vacant area of community forests with the help of different organisations. The District Forest Office, Surkhet, different ranger posts as well as other NGOs have been providing saplings for the same.

Different organisations including Well Protection and Excavation Youth Users' Committee, Latikoili, Human Rights and Environmental Education Centre (HUREC) Nepal, Surkhet, and Jeevan Jyoti Cooperatives for environmental protection have planted sapling of different types of trees, according to the District Forest Office (DFO), Surkhet.

Similarly, Ranichautari Community Forest Users' Group at Satakhani-4 planted the saplings with the support of Area Forest Office, Satakhani, said Group Chairman, Tilak Khatri.

Assistant District Forest Officer at the DFO, Surkhet, Surya Prasad Sharma, said that the office has been providing saplings and added that more than 10,000 saplings are planted daily. RSS
